About the Author - I started this website to provide fundraising help and confidence to people just like you who are trying to raise the necessary resources for your group, school, team or other non profit organization. You deserve the best advice because your cause is important! That’s where I come in. I will be your partner to find the best solution for your fundraising challenge. I have over 20 years of fundraising, non profit management and event experience and together we will find the right strategies and resources to ensure success for your important cause. My professional experience ranges from academic settings (college and high school) managing development departments to currently overseeing a state wide non profit organization. My passion is helping others and with my experience and your enthusiasm I know you will be successful!
ABOUT THIS WEBSITE As a working mother with an intense career the real key to happiness is work/life balance. Over the past twenty years as I’ve worked in outstanding non-profit organizations and raised our two girls, a few things have become very evident to me. First, family is the priority. Second, being a mother and having a career isn’t always easy and there are tough choices that need to be made. Third, along the way, I’ve learned some best practices and tricks of the trade about fundraising, special events, and volunteer management.
That’s where the idea of creating this website was born. I began the website in 2008 and it is a work in progress. It has been really fun and challenging to share my knowledge with others. When I was new in the development and fundraising field, I was always amazed at how difficult or expensive it was to find the correct tools and information to do my job. A lot of times, I just created the tools that I needed. That’s where the idea for my site developed – I would provide free or very low cost fundraising templates and tools and practical fundraising advice and information to others.
Now I realize that you are visiting this site to learn more about fundraising and to perhaps download many of our free fundraising templates and tools. (By all means, please do that and explore the site!). The tools are terrific and they will remain available to the public, free of charge, for years to come. ABOUT HOW I CREATED THIS WEBSITE However, I receive so many inquiries from readers who want to know more about how I built the website, I’ll take just a brief moment here to answer a couple key questions. Readers continually ask how I can possibly afford to give away so many great tools at no charge. They wonder if this is a non-profit organization. In fact Fundraising-Guide.com is a “for-profit” online business. I run the entire business out of my home-based office, in my spare hours – even with a demanding non profit management career (which I love!). But, I’ve come to love my on-line business just as much. SBI is an all-in-one tool that first taught me how to create the website. (This is an important point, because I quite literally knew nothing about how to create a profitable website before being introduced to SBI.) I continue to utilize Site Build-It to help me grow and manage my entire online business. If you like to watch videos, you can take a video tour of SBI. You’re thinking – how does she make any money when she gives everything away? The answer is that with the guidance of Site Build-It, I’ve learned how to earn money through the proper placement of Google Ads, Affiliate Programs and Joint Ventures. So you see, while I give away the vast majority of what you see on the website, I receive great rewards through various partnerships and affiliations. It’s truly a Win/Win scenario for both my readers and me. You probably discovered my site by typing something like “fundraising ideas” or some other fundraising-related keywords into one of the more popular search engines (For example: Yahoo Search, Google, BING, MSN or Ask.com). So you see, the system does work. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be reading this right now.
As you can see, I really enjoy what I do. I’m so lucky to have a terrific family, an energizing career and a home-based online business that allows me to share my passion for fundraising and help others achieve their goals for the non profit organizations that they love.
